Examining the Efficacy of Toceranib Phosphate (Palladia) as a Primary and/or Adjuvant Agent in the Treatment of Feline Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma
12/28/2011This is a non-randomized study to identify the activity of toceranib phosphate alone or as a radiation sensitizing agent in the treatment of feline oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Cats with confirmed diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma will receive Palladia every other day and depending on client preference, may also receive radiation therapy. The radiation protocol consists of a total radiation dose of 36Gy given in six, 6Gy fractions delivered biweekly over three weeks. A physical examination, CBC, toxicity assessment, and drug accountability would be performed weekly for the first three weeks, then at five weeks, then at four week intervals. Those costs would be the responsibility of the client. The toceranib is provided at no cost to the client. Medications for side effects and adverse events would be the responsibility of the client.
